How Fight or Flight Response Impacts our Perception

When fight or flight response is activated, we begin looking for everything wrong with a situation, place, person, or thing.  Because recognizing whats wrong is how we survive.  And we find what’s wrong, because nothing is perfect.  When fight or flight response is activated, we begin looking for everything wrong with a situation, place, person, or thing.  Because recognizing whats wrong is how we survive.  And we find what’s wrong, because nothing is perfect.  



It would be dangerous when there is perceived danger, to have positives distracting us from potential threats, and so the mind filters the good things out.  Right now, feel your left knee.  Were you aware of it before I mentioned it?  If not, it’s because your mind was filtering out input from the left knee for the sake of simplicity.



You can use hypnotherapy to switch from fight or flight to the rest and digest parasympathetic response.  This allows you to perceive what is going right, what’s good about a situation, place, person, or thing, thereby allowing you to have a better quality of life.



Because what we focus on grows, focusing on what’s going well or what is good expands our awareness of that and attracts more of it into our lives.  The reverse is also true.  By focusing on what’s wrong, we shift further into the stress response and see even more to be displeased with.
